Mauch Chunk Lake (2-June-2016)

Just a short walk at Mauch Chunk Lake. As always the views at the lake were spectacular and of course there was new trash along the trails.

Why is it so hard for people to clean up after themselves after they are done fishing?

To me part of fishing is having to hold the fish or bait the hook. More and more often I am finding disposable gloves like these. I think those who use these also confuse disposable with biodegradable. If you choose to use gloves while fishing, take them home with you and throw them away.

There is a hole in that tree, that means trash goes in it right? These cans were a pain to remove. For some it required gently maneuvering them out with a stick.

All the cans out of the dead tree. The amazing thing is if they were left there, the cans would still be there long after the tree had completely rotted away.

American Toad Tadpoles. There were thousands of these along the one section of lake shore. Seeing large numbers like this is common at this time of year.

The next post might not be up until Monday. I will be doing a clean-up tomorrow, but I probably will not have time to post. Helping as a guide for the Perkiomen Creek Sojourn this Saturday and will probably spend the weekend in Montgomery Co. Will do my best to have the sojourn and other posts all up by Monday afternoon, no guarantees though.

You too can help with taking out the trash! If you get out hiking take a grocery bag with you, give it a second use and fill it with trash while you are out! Every bit helps. You can also help contributing to this project here: Help Fund Taking Out the Trash
